2016 Summer FR Collection: A Delicate Bloom

CONTROVERSY.  It is fascinating how my worlds are colliding lately. The Chicago Theatre scene has been in full blown turmoil about questionable casting of roles that should have gone to a specific ethnic group...and here in doll world, we have a 'whitewashing' of an entire lineup from a traditionally very diverse toy brand.  It came as a huge disappointment to many (including me) that the Delicate Bloom Collection lacked Adele, Jordan, or a new character of color. Though it does feature Natalia and Kyori, they are both in very light tones. Speculation and emotions are running wild at the absence of (skin)color.  Many point out that the lime green dress on a super tan (hungarian toned) Eugenia would have been stunning on Adele.  Agreed (though the dress is not my style). Some believe the lack of Adele indicates she may show up as Club Exclusive? Maybe, but then why not as the special event doll instead of back to back Agni [agni=plural of agnes].

Anyway. I think it was yet ano…

2016 Integrity Toys My Little Pony Inspired Dolls

Well these are just adorable. I am not really a MLP fan, but these are darn fun and really well designed.  The Fluttershy gal is pretty tempting with that cute pink streak and the Erin 1.0 face mold.  I am not really interested in dealing with this new Industry body sculpt though.  ALSO...it is pretty clear from the pictures that several of these dolls are rocking velcro closures.  Boo.  I think the Rainbow Dash guy is great and I am really tempted to get him.  BUT I also wish that Rainbow Dash had been a sporty gal...a la the great Abby Wambach inspired OOAK Barbie. Le sigh.  These are coming pretty quick and so is convention.  With small edition numbers (500), it might be a bloodbath to get these. I suspect Applejack and Fluttershy will be super popular.

From left to right, Applejack, Fluttershy, Twilight Sparkle, Verity, Rainbow Dash, & Pinky Pie.

I love Integrity but they are killing me this year with their product announcements and shipping schedule. Everything seems to be coming out at the same time forcing collectors to really make tough choices about what they love and what they can afford. Here we are in August and we won't be seeing the FR or Nu Face collections until the end of the month at the earliest. However, many collectors have already committed their dolly dollars to the October Convention. In addition, we still have two more club exclusives. Brutal. I really hope they space these releases out better next year. As it stands, I will likely have to skip most of these upcoming releases and hope the convention dolls are satisfying.
Most people seem to be going crazy about this latest gift set featuring the popular sisters, Agnes and Giselle. I think it is a great idea and I love the case and double stand.  BUT...I am so tired of black and blondes.  I have no interest in these but I'm happy for those that ar…
