2016 Summer FR Collection: A Delicate Bloom

CONTROVERSY.  It is fascinating how my worlds are colliding lately. The Chicago Theatre scene has been in full blown turmoil about questionable casting of roles that should have gone to a specific ethnic group...and here in doll world, we have a 'whitewashing' of an entire lineup from a traditionally very diverse toy brand.  It came as a huge disappointment to many (including me) that the Delicate Bloom Collection lacked Adele, Jordan, or a new character of color. Though it does feature Natalia and Kyori, they are both in very light tones. Speculation and emotions are running wild at the absence of (skin)color.  Many point out that the lime green dress on a super tan (hungarian toned) Eugenia would have been stunning on Adele.  Agreed (though the dress is not my style). Some believe the lack of Adele indicates she may show up as Club Exclusive? Maybe, but then why not as the special event doll instead of back to back Agni [agni=plural of agnes].

Anyway. I think it was yet another misstep in a series of tone-deaf moves by what is usually a very responsive and forward-thinking company. I still love Integrity, but I really hope they get the house in order soon. The sheer lateness of this reveal is keeping me from even considering the bulk of these dolls.  I only pre-ordered one out of the whole lot (Elyse...I just can't help myself...I love Elyse). They did listen to our desire for less black clothing and gave us colorful pieces...but on wonder bread white dolls.  I will also try very hard to get the Vero lottery doll for the outfit and jewelry.  I love rose gold anything...and I think that dress is really fun.  Plus the price-point is great.

Natalia: great dress and purse. I never want to see black heels again.  I have like 100 pairs at this point. I like the simple un-fussy hairstyles on all the dolls in this lineup. They look very modern.
