Reflecting on my year in plastic: State of the Doll Collection 2020

I am looking at my cabinet...what has come and gone over this year? Well, I recently re-did the layout of the two Ikea detolfs that I have. I am most definitely running out of room and sweating the impending Jem-a-lanche. I moved my custom Blythe to my office...also Katy Keene and the East 59th Squad to my office collection to make some more room for Jem. I picked up the Divine Intervention Victoire head this year for a good price.  I love a good hair streak and I had a matching East 59th body so it was a win win. Other than that, no new East 59th gals for me this year.  As for Jem, I brought the Flipside Up-n-Rockin Jem and box to my office to display but added the Jerrica to the cabinet at home. I did not keep any of the dolls from the Perfect Match set...just the fashions and the sweet stand. I have the misfits two doll set on pre-order.  I entered the lottery for Aja and Shana. Pizazz may or may not stay when she gets here.   The Industry shelf is getting super crowded what with th

Dolly Days 2020: Poppy Parker and East 59th Mini Collections from Integrity Toys

Well, Dolly Days has come and gone...as have the available dolls.  It is getting to be a bit of a bloodsport lately trying to secure pre-orders.  There is a disheartening number of people who seem to be in it for the flipping.  I keep thinking about what that kind of thing did to the comic book market in the 90s. I doubt the same will happen here with Integrity dolls...but I do wish people would stop with the speculating and just buy what they like. As I have mentioned before, karma is real. That sort of behavior is also harmful to the market in the long run.  I gave up on Integrity dolls about 11 years ago because I found the whole thing too stressful for words but then Jem and the super fun style labs at convention pulled me back in. Collectors are already being priced out by the Integrity's rising prices. But they are also having to fight for dolls on the secondary market when things sell out in less than an hour from the dealers. Or, they lose out on a lottery only to see peopl

W Club Exclusive Wild Feeling Rayna. Integrity Toys Dolly Days 2020

Thud.  I die. She's gorgeous. I already had the equally gorgeous Neo-Romantic Rayna...but I am feeling like this one a touch better.  I like the light honey skin tone in general and this looks great on Rayna. It also pairs nicely with the wines and purples in this fashion set. I prefer Neo's side part as opposed to this center part. However, I prefer the more neutral makeup on Wild Feeling (neo is very pink). I am also a sucker for gift sets. This one is a little slim...but I still like all the pieces. I love the scarf. I wish one of the shoes were a pair of booties or something though. I adore the chain for the sunglasses. The mongolian fur coat is amazeballs.  I totally had a purse like that in the 80s. I think I will make a little cropped t-shirt for her with the reality show name. I think that would have been a fun addition to this gift set. Jason Wu Collection: The Originals. Integrity Toys Dolly Days 2020

These are very pretty but not really my style.  I also think it is super annoying that they made this a lottery in which you could end up getting one and not the other...as I think many would want to have both on display together.  We also just got the Vero and Adele in black and white for convention. (I mean, I didn't get those upgrade dolls myself...but lots of folks did). And while it might be kind of fun to have them in cocktail dresses in black and white next to these versions in evening gowns...it is also a bit boring too. I love the capes though. I do enjoy mask and cape drama so I am slightly tempted by the Vero this time.  I also considered entering in this as possible trade bait to get my mitts on that Soiree Agnes that I stupidly sold. Hmmmm. They are giving us until January to enter.  Item #12313 The Originals Véronique Perrin®  Dressed Doll The Jason Wu 20th Anniversary Collection Edition Size: 450 Expected Ship Date: Spring 2021 Price: $175.00 + Shipping/Handling. *

Integrity "Beat This" Aja and Shana Jem and the Holograms Two Doll Set!

Image
Day two of dolly days brought us more Jem goodness.  I gotta admit to being a little underwhelmed by the outfit selection.  I could have picked about six outfit I would have wanted more than these two options.  However, there are some fun moments in here and the dolls themselves look great.  I am perplexed as to why they changed the Aja sculpt.  I think this is the Fan sculpt...which I like, but I also liked the OG Aja sculpt with the smile. I am, however, LOVING the genie hair thing.  I used to rock one those back in the day. Shana's hair is very fun and I love how fluffy and big Aja's hair is. I like how they used the Hasbro face paint for Shana as well. The packaging looks swell too.  My biggest beef is that this is once again a lottery. I suspect that it won't be an issue getting one of these...but the fact that there is a chance of missing it feels less than generous from Integrity. But I get it...the lottery creates the illusion of scarcity...which means they are unli

Poppy Parker: Ginger and Cinnamon Holidays at Home Gift Set! Integrity Dolly Days 2020 is here!

Dolly Days is here again. Integrity started with a hot mug of holiday cheer with this little Ginger gift set!  I absolutely love it. This will be the first time I have purchased one of the holiday dolls.  Usually they are gowns (which I don't do) so I was so happy to see this set is a casual outfit with an adorable record player and weird/cute dog. I am glad I skipped the first Ginger as I like this one a whole lot more. I am wondering if we will see a Poppy to match her this week? Though I wonder if the capris outfit from Viva Poppy might work well with this. Another surprise is that this doll is not one of our club dolls either. So we still have another Poppy doll coming this club year.  Item # 77194 Ginger & Cinnamon: Holiday At Home Ginger Gilroy™ Dressed Doll Gift Set The Poppy Parker Collection™ Limited Edition: TBD Estimated Arrival: Late Spring/Early Summer 2021 Retail Price: $165.00 **IT DIRECT EXCLUSIVE PRE-ORDER** Head Sculpt: Ginger Body Type: PP 1.5 Foot Sculpt: Ar
