My first custom Blythe...Rosie Gold

Image
Well I did it.  I did some sculpting on the face using an exacto and a battery sander/dremel type tool...mostly in the lip and nose region.  I did some festive eyelids and altered her so that she has sleep eyes. I did fairly simple face shading and added some subtle freckles. She has rose gold lips. I use watercolor pencils, soft pastels, and acrylic paint then sealed everything with Testors dulcotte (the lazy man's Mister Superclear). I made fun new pull strings with some cording, beads, and charms that I had (including a vintage owl earring). I also did all new custom eye chips that I either hand painted or made with paper and fabric and glitter. The glitter eyes could be better and I will definitely redo them.  The glue did not dry as clear as I had hoped so the glitter is a bit cloudy.  I dressed her in some random barbie clothes.  I have not finished any sewing projects for her yet.

Down the Blythe Rabbit Hole...

A couple of years ago I bought Nikki Lad Blythe.  She was an adorable tom boy doll.  Then I was getting married...so I sold a TON of stuff so that we wouldn't be one of those idiot couples that end up in a bunch a debt from their wedding (no I would rather be an idiot doll collector in a bunch of debt from these genuine plastic divas demanding I purchase them all the damn time).  I sold her and did not look back.... Until I did. And here we are kids...I just got my first 'factory blythe'...meaning she is like an off brand Blythe un-officially cobbled together from official parts. I have been watching customization videos like crazy on ye olde you tube.  I got her last week and have already taken her a part, sanded her face, and used a dremel and files to give her lips and nose a new shape.  I have ordered the most freaking adorable pair of little pink nike sneakers for her and have been sewing up a storm. I am going with a rose gold glam look for her makeup...

Oh my I was just bad...New acquisitions of the genuine molded plastic variety...

shhhh...don't tell my husband. Definitely did not need to do get this one...and this one ...considering it a birthday present to myself but will be forced to boot some other girls off the dolly island. This is an FR Mongram doll called Extravagance.  And I think that I might be crazy.  I am also trying to hunt down a Blythe doll at a reasonable price...
