Oh she pretty.  I am going to keep an eye out for her on sale.  I still need to get the Diana and Steve Wonder Woman 1984 set too.  She is a Barbie.com exclusive.  There is also a version in the black uniform as well.

Best of 2018-A Year of Plastic Bishes in Review

Image
Another year down. Here are my personal favorite doll acquisitions of 2018. I’m only counting dolls in hand and not the ones on pre-order... In no particular order: Wonder Woman by Robert Tonner Featuring a pretty good likeness of Gal Godot and exciting new articulation, the new Wonder Woman Doll based on the film was a impulsive addition to my collection that I don’t regret. After being unimpressed by promo photos (Tonner’s promo photos have been absolute rubbish for quite some time), I was driven to buy her after seeing his unboxing video of the doll. In hand, she is gorgeous and the outfit is very detailed. I also am a fan of the new stand. I have not added any of the fashions or the training version. The price points are daunting but I am keeping an eye out for good sales. ***gahhh...Tonner just announced that Tonner Doll is no more. So no chance of the other Justice League dolls that were in the works...and no 1985 Wonder Woman. Booo. I hope to score one more doll just t...

Dol-valanche! When all your pre-orders show up in the same two weeks!

Panic. Full on panic. That was the feeling that I and many other collectors felt when we got a recent shipping release update from IT. Several dolls that were expected in late spring and here like NOW! Poppy London Wave, Metamorphosis Erin, Golden Holiday Poppy, Alta Moda Karolin, Glimmer East 59th...umm i am sure I am mentally blocking out some to protect my fragile psyche. Luckily I only have two poppies on order...but of course I entered in the lottery for the caped Poppy...and Nordstrom Elyse...and the waitlist for Erin Metamorphosis. AHHHHH! Not to mention, the last wave of Jem dolls dropping. For some wackadoo reason, I ordered doubles. WHAAATTTTT!  Luckily I found some folks to take those extras off of my hands. I might end up selling Farewell Jem nude but will wait to see what her face looks like in person. In the promo photos, she looks a little....um boozey? I currently lack the space to display the extra holograms...but I have already pretty stripped down the J...

Tonner 2018 Toyfair Release-More Wonder Woman...Shut up and Take My Money

Image
Oh dear. This is going to be an expensive year. I'm definitely wanting Training Armor Diana. She looks stunning...and I think the face paint on this one is even better than the first version. I will likely get the blue dress too. I think I am going to skip the black coat and just make my own. It looks great, but feels too short for me. It looks like it comes to the ground in the film stills....and $50 feels like a lot for something that I know that I could make. Hmmm. T18DCDD01 Wonder Woman-Training Armor - $210.00 Sheltered from the reality of the real world, the Amazonian Princess Diana prepares for her unknown destiny.  Featuring a beautifully accurate portrait sculpt of Gal Gadot with hand painted details, this ¼ scale figure on the new 16" RTB 101 hard plastic/vinyl body, is heavily articulated and outfitted in an exacting replica of the Themyscira training armor as worn in the Wonder Woman movie.  The removable molded armor is movie accurate and hand paint...

Tonner Toy Fair 2018 Updates!

News from Toy Fair is starting to trickle in... Thus far, Tonner has posted two videos on Instagram showing the Blue Evening Gown with the sword in the back and the Amazon Training Wonder Woman. LIVE from ToyFair 2018!! NYC and Robert shares one of his new favs! This will be the Gala Gown Set Outfit Only and will retail for $109.00 and should be shipping very soon! #tonner #tonnerdoll #javitscenter #toyfair2018 #roberttonner #tonnerdoll #galgadot #bluedress #bluegown #wonderwoman #wonderwomanmovie #live #dollcollector #dollplay #believeinthepowerofplay #dcstars #ww #instadoll #dolloftheday #dollofinstagram #dollphotography #dollphoto #bliss #dollfun A post shared by Tonner Doll (@tonnerdoll) on Feb 17, 2018 at 12:42pm PST The Gala gown blue dress is a stand alone fashion retailing for $109 and nearly ready to ship. It will come with blue shoes (which I love...even though she actually wears her boots in the movie). In the video he says that it comes with the sword t...

Tonner Wonder Woman Gal Gadot! Stunning!

Image
When initial promo images surfaced, I was not impressed. Something about the sculpt was not doing it for me. BOY WAS I WRONG. Actually...more like...Tonner needs to take better pictures of his products. In person, this doll is gorgeous and really does capture the gorgeous actress. I kind of wish she had applied lashes and I might add them myself...but that is pretty much my only gripe about this doll. After seeing Tonner's deboxing video, I immediately regretted not ordering her and, in a panic, scoured the internet trying to find one. I was able to secure the bundle pack from Doll Peddler and she arrived on Monday night. AMAZING!!! The sculpt is great. Nicely painted as well. Nice hair with good curl and style (but it could be a little longer IMO but still works for me). The figure comes dressed in her outfit and boots. You need to put on the harness, headband, bicep cuff, and metal bracers. The doll comes with no instructions sadly. I would have never figured out the harnes...

2017 My Doll Year in Review

Image
Another year down yall. As I look back over my collecting habits for the year, I see some consistencies and a few surprising new directions. So here is my hit list for 2017 in no particular order. And note...I am skipping dolls that are still on pre-order and not arriving until next year. The Hits Gigi Hadid Barbie After teasing us with her on the Barbie Style Instagram , Mattel delivered a very nice doll. The sculpt is gorgeous and she comes with a cute Tommy mini fashion on an articulated (but not made to move) body. I heard the sweatshirt stains but I have not checked mine yet. I just adore the little shorts. Barbie Fashionistas...Diversity continues Holy Man Bun! Mattel continued to deliver new sculpts and even added additional body shapes for Ken (Broad, Slim, and Original). We also saw an articulated curvy doll and images for an Curvy Made to Move coming in 2018. Once again, I found myself purchasing a playline doll. Blue Beauty 69 is ADORABLE. Then I had to hunt down...

DC Bombshells Sewing Patterns!

Image
Just got back from a quick run to ye olde Jo of Ann...and found three new costume patterns for Bombshell Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Batgirl!  They are adorable...and patterns were on sale for $1.99...so they jumped into my basket.  I might actually make Wonder Woman's blouse as I would totally wear that. They also had a pattern for old school Joker and from the Marvel side of the nerd-verse...a cool Deadpool costume pattern!

Tonner Finally Tempts Me- DC Gotham Garage

Image
It has been a LONG time since I have wanted to get a new Tonner doll. The last one I picked up was a Sydney Nu Mood via eBay to use as a body transplant for my Diana Prince-Princess of Paradise Island  so that she could have flat feet to wear the festive Greek numbers I have made or collected. (BTW...this doll is GORGEOUS.  Great hair and makeup AND the outfit is stunning. Great accessories too... wait what's that?  Did you say accessories?  Yes!  Remember when the dolls came with extra things that weren't lame?  It's true...it totally used to happen. But I digress...).  Poor old Sydney is now re-bodied and on Mister DollFace . Tonner just launched two new dolls, Catwoman and Harley Quinn , in a line called Gotham Garage . They are painfully priced at $190 and limited to 300.  I love them...but hoping they hang around long enough to get put on sale because Integrity has ALL MY MONEY at the moment what with convention and all the aweso...

Madame Alexander DC Dolls- Wonder Woman, Harley, and Poison Ivy

Image
These were completely off my radar.  Somehow I am still on a Madame Alexander mailing list even though I have not bought an Alex doll in over a decade. These are new 16" dolls using the Alex articulated body. Wonder Woman's outfit is reminiscent of Linda Carter's oddly cut star spangled panties and gold chicken bodice.  If she ever goes on mega sale, I might be tempted.   Harley Quinn comes with a swell mallet but there is no photo of her without her mask or hood, so we have NO IDEA what lurks beneath that mask. The facial screening with the open smile is a little weird and her body suit needs to be way tighter. I think Ivy is the most successful.  I would love to see the leafy bathing suit thing in person and the leaf boots also look fun.  The tights are something we have not seen in previous doll versions.  Her screening looks nice and overall she captures the feeling and look of the character. At $199 each, these are fairly in line with Tonner...

Tonner Bombshell Wonder Woman...Less Explosive; more like a Fizzle.

Image
Pics of the Prototype  Tonner Bombshell Wonder Woman  are out.  And man...such a mess.  Mostly this is an issue of scale.  The fabrics chosen are all wrong.  Instead of stretch knit for the scarf and shirt, they would have been better served by using a china silk like material or a fine cotton.  Serged edges...please.  I still want her...for the boots and belt buckle...but I might just get the outfit loose.  I am also not a fan of wigs.  I feel like they could have gotten this look with rooted hair (which likely would have made the head scarf rig better as well).  It looks like they are using the Supergirl sculpt for both this doll and for Bombshell Harley too.  I love this sculpt but I think it would have been great if they had used the open-mouth Mera sculpt instead to mimic the smile from the original art.  Here's hoping Harley does not disappoint.  (And they give us more from this great series). But one al...

Diana Prince Dolls on Sale

http://www.cherishedfriends.com/WeeklySaleApril2015.html Cherished Friends has a great sale on the first round of Diana Prince Wonder Woman dolls from tonner. I could not resist. I picked up the princess of paradise doll because she's gorgeous and I don't have that first grecian costume anymore. I also got the Diana Prince doll in the black and red dress. I think that was a very elegant design. I recently picked up the agent Diana uniform off eBay. This doll will work nicely with that uniform and her updo.

Tonner 2015 Mainline Preview

Image
Tonner released his mainline preview .  The biggest shock was that most of the dolls were actually already in stock.  The Jupiter Ascending dolls are darn pretty.  They really did a nice job on the sculpt and the outfits.  Not my thing but I can't say that I am not tempted.  There are several new Diana Prince dolls and fashions.  I am definitely planning to get Agent Diana .  She is amazing.  The only other one that interests me is the fashion from Golden Princess .  I hate the bangs on the rest of the girls...and the wigs.  Hate wigs.  HATE EM!  I'd like to pick up the star spangled bathing suit on the basic doll at some point though.  I think Tonner is smart to get a two-fer out of  Wonder Woman by giving comic geeks a little something and Tyler collectors a little something.  The fashion offerings are the classic sportswear offerings that typifies Tonner's design aesthetic.  I am left unmoved though....

Tonner Special Agent Diana Prince and Bombshell Supergirl

Tonner previewed some of the upcoming 2015 lineup including the Diana Prince doll collection.  Once again there are several outfits and dressed dolls vaguely inspired by Wonder Woman. The big surprise is the Terry Dodson uniform Special Agent Diana Prince . According to the tag she will retail at $189.99.  I am excited and totally love her. Post by Wilde Imagination . Also on display is a Bombshell Supergirl.  She looks adorable and just like the original art . I hope we get the Wonder Woman version too..heck I would be tempted by any doll from the bombshell line.

New York Comic Con~Lady Action~Wonder Woman 52 and Supergirl Costumes for $99

Image
I believe this is the Captain Action booth #341...According to a another website, they are seeling the Wonder Woman 52 outfit for $99 or the outfit/Lady Action set for $199...which is a swell deal if that means the outfit plus the doll.  I have yet to find confirmation that this Wonder Woman 52 outfit will come with a wig or not.  So it is a mystery. The Supergirl outfit looks so much like the original DC Stars Supergirl...I am not sure I even care to get it.  The wig looks nice, but I have never been a big wig doll fan.  I can't tell from the photos if the boots have a heel on them. The biggest difference in the outfits is in the gold belt and gold edging on the boots.  part of me wants to be a Supergirl completist and just get it.... Info on the outfit: Look up in the sky- it’s our Lady Action Tonner Supergirl outfit! Get ready for the just-announced CBS Supergirl series with this lovely Supergirl outfit especially desi...

New Tonner Diana Prince Wonder Woman Collection

Image
The new Diana Prince line launched today. Much of it looks like it will ship in early October.  Diana uses the Tyler 2.0 sculpt (which I like quite a bit).  The basic doll has adorable red and blue undies, nice star jewelry, and very nifty blue pumps .  She features the new "Fit Body" which is a mash-up of the muscular superhero arms with a regular Tyler bust line I believe. She also comes with the fist hands...which is a nice touch. LE of 500 so it is possible she could sell out pretty quickly.  Price is $119...which seems a little crazy for a basic doll.  But at least the shoes are super cute and there is a necklace.  If only they would glitz up the bases too.  I guess I can do that myself with some decals. They are also re-releasing the Wonder Woman 52 costume as an 'outfit only'...but this time in the smaller Tyler bust line. (The first version was for the Hero body with the jugs of doom and was a dressed doll.  She is now sold out). ...

Tonner 2014 Convention Items on Sale!

Thus far it looks like nothing has sold out.  I am 'slightly' tempted to get a Lady Action...but I really hate wig dolls.  I think I will just wait for the Diana Prince line in the fall.  Though Lady Action's outfit and weapons pretty fun.  The wonder woman outfit is still available...go get it!  I cannot begin to comprehend the price point on that Anniversary Tyler !  $225!!!! what the??? Shop here...

Squeeeee! Tonner Diana Prince Line!

Image
Excitement! So this could be swell.  I wonder if they will do the groovy retro looks too?   Read about it here.... According to attendees, the outfits looked fashion forward...with nods to the traditional costume.  There will be a basic doll, two outfits, and three dressed dolls.  The sculpt will be Tyler 2.0 with a tyler bust and the heroic arms. Coming in the Fall.
