Legendary IT 2020 Convention: Poppy Parker Event

The presentation itself was fun but these dolls were not for me.  I feel like we have seen this particular screening A LOT.  Hoping to see something different next year (and variety too boot). I was tempted to keep the purple outfit though because it might look really cute on Sookie...but I opted to sell her.  Anyway...here are the tidbits of info we learned out from the event.

  • Rejected Poppy names: Hilarie Hartley, Cherie Clark, Sharon Shelby, Tabatha Tilly, Trixie Taylor...there was one redacted name that David really likes and wants to use in the future. 
  • The World's Fair Collection was one of his very favorites.
  • David's husband really wants him to do a Poppy Hometown Collection where she returns to her Midwestern roots.
  • Next year's theme is Palm Springs. 
    • Inspiration from Jonathon Adler, Mid-century modern design, Trina Turk, Shag prints, Monsieur Z, Poolside Gossip by Slim Aarons.
    • Retro-modern and might jump around in time a bit
    • Expressed a desire to loosen up the rules for Poppy a bit
    • Ginger and possible the return of Chip (either in this collection or somewhere else)
    • Both the W Club 2021 Upgrade doll AND all club exclusives will be a part of this collection.
    • No bathing suits. Fun, fashion, sleek, and some fantasy.
  • Second W Club Exclusive hint: spicy and cute. (I read the clue "spicy" as a Ginger reference.)
  • We will see Ginger sooner than 2021 (I am guessing it is either a two doll w club exclusive gift set OR the option to buy two dolls like we got with Erin and Nadja last year.)

Based on the holiest of holy Poppy grails "Center of Attention", this one is very frothy.  I do love the colors and the hairstyle is something new. I don't do gowns though.

She's cute. She looks a whole lot like the recent New York Poppy.  I might try to get the fashion loose maybe...we shall see.  This one was based on an early Poppy club doll, Lilac Frost.  I remember not loving it and not ordering it. This mod version is fun with the little hot pants.

After the flood of Poppies from last year, it feels a little odd to only be keeping one from this year.  But my wallet and doll shelf are happy. More room for next year's stuff...which sound way more my speed.

Well, surprise it's another twin. People on W Club seemed mostly jazzed.  I was like....hmmm. Not sure. It feels like a whole lot of lazy rehash.  That dress seems like a variation on a dress from Luxe Life Eugenia and the jacket is the same one we got on Karolin at Live from Fashion Week (which (I sold off) The hair color is almost identical to the recent Violaine doll (whom I ADORE).  But I do love the mint dress (it has pocketssss!) and shoes quite a bit.  I am not loving the hairstyle at all and would definitely be removing the Snooki pouf hair . I love fantasy hair...but wish it weren't so similar to Violaine.  I've been wanting a minty haired doll...and maybe this one would be a perfect re-root candidate.  So I am still a little undecided.  Someone also pointed out that her stock number (82120A) could possibly indicate a corresponding Lilith version (82120B?) is coming our way (possibly for Dolly days?). Which sort of panic scares me into ordering her...hmmm.

Paris Doll Convention News

The Paris Doll Convention was this past weekend. Pictures can be seen here courtesy of the fantabulous Gerda! There was a gorgeous Raven hair Ellowyne with cute bangs and a ponytail and smokey eye makeup called Paris Blue limited to 250. The Sybarite event doll for the Saturday evening banquet was a bright red wigged doll with hot pink eye makeup and a gold and pink evening gown called Epocholypse. There was also a Raven version in a black and silver gown limited to 20 available via a special drawing. Both have lovely face paint and the wigs are in a cute haute heidi braid look. The dresses are nice..but i am not a big fan of Superdoll's gowns. I love their unique sportswear looks more. I am the same with Tonner gowns as well. Some lucky ducks walked away with the new Sybarite Fashion Victim dolls. I am very jealous as these look FABULOUS. I so want that mohawk pink wig one.... IT Dolly Days East 59th La Femme Godiva Collection with New Characters!

  Well another gorgeous set of dolls from designer Christ Stoeckel. He and Mark Tinkey are definitely favs at the moment. The clothing here is lovely and highly detailed. We are getting two new characters which seem to be using some older sculpts.  I like them and I don't mind some stylization...but they do seem a touch out of step with the screening on Evelyn which seems more realistic.  I tried for Cora in the lottery and lost out.  I am hoping to jump on the wait list and maybe get lucky though. I am a big Mugler fan and this fashion on Cora is definitely a reference to a Mugler look as well as to Jerry Hall's locks (also a Mugler model). I missed out on preordering the rest of the ladies from the dealers.  I would really like to get Evelyn's outfit at some point.  I will be patient.
