Nu Face: Off Duty Collection Thoughts
Dolly Days wrapped up with a Nu Face and Fashion Royalty reveal...well more like a junior varsity reveal. I was more than a little concerned that they were going to drop two big collections right before the holidays, but once again, we are being given two small collections of only three dolls each. The factory issues meant that all the lines were slimmed down this year. Lets all say a prayer, light a candle, maybe kill a chicken, pray to Jobu or something that the factories GET IT TOGETHER soon.
Many were shocked that there was not a corresponding Lilith to go with Eden...however, there was a vague hint that it might be still coming next year. Forum speculators have their bets on the 2020 upgrade doll being Mademoiselle Lilith. That seems like a pretty solid guess to me.
This 2019 mainline collection theme was focused on the ladies' looks off the runway. Designer Jessy Ayala served up three slightly more casual dolls with streetwear looks: Ayumi, Giselle, and a Collette with a slightly tweaked sculpt. I believe they shrank her head down a bit and the result works very well in my opinion. I pre-ordered her but I wish her hair shade was not so similar to the Public Adoration Eden...I was thinking I might add some unicorn hair rainbow streaks to this one and make her really different. Either that or maybe I sell off Eden since I have the Mademoiselle coming....hmmm. All three of these dolls come with two pairs of shoes and alternate flat feet. I am a big fan of this. Colette comes with amazeballs boots. I am also a fan of the sun-kissed skin tone. Her jacket dress needs some better styling but I think it will be an interesting piece. It is based on Balmain, which seems to be a frequent inspiration for Jessy and Nu Face. I might have also purchased Colette for the spider ring and spider sunglasses alone. Her hat also gives her a fun AHS Coven vibe.
I passed on the other two. I keep holding out for an Ayumi that I can't live without. This one does have nice neutral makeup and hair that would be very versatile. I actually really love the jean jacket and shorts but I am still going to pass. With Jessy already planning to revisit Reckless next year, I going to wait and see. Giselle is channeling Blake Lively as Carol Ferris in Green Lantern. The jumpsuit, while cool, immediately made me think of George Bush so the doll is dead to me.

I got Top Gun Giselle cuz she looks like a sister to the welcome Agnes from this last convention- but I could live without the stupid top gun flight suit. Or at least they should have punked it up with patches and grommets...
Ayumi is pretty but not different or special enough.
